Nibble some nuts, have a laugh, a cry

And let Paula pour you a brew!!!

We need a place to hang out... but no diners or tea rooms or stuff like that here. Paula's Pub is officially opened!!

oh oh... Paula... we need a name, some decorations....

I'll head behind the bar and start wiping glasses and making ice-holes.

Since November is upon us, would anyone be interested in joining in here like the other poems (a collaboration) in creating an "Ode to Thanksgiving?" Here's a link to a few examples of an Ode. I just thought why not praise Thanksgiving. There are a few different rhyme scheme, so we can choose to make it ababcdecde etc. or ababcde. We can already choose how many stanzas we want and keep to a specific theme about describing weather and things we're thankful for in life. Anyone interested?

I hated this day in the city. We are getting snow today and tomorrow so that might slow things down.

With the Hini (pronounced Hi-Nee) Flu -- (sorry, that's what we call it in my house) is there going to be any impact on Halloween? Is there a protocol that is to be followed?

I have heard some say that they will not allow the children to dip ...

Dear Santa,

I'm not sure if you're on medication, but I think you got your good and bad lists mixed up. I should have never received the footy pajamas and my sister doesn't deserve the handcuffs. Please straighten this out for next year.

Long goodbye: Edgar Allan Poe gets proper funeral

October 6th, 2009 @ 8:35am

By BEN NUCKOLS

Associated Press Writer

BALTIMORE (AP) - It's been a good 200th anniversary year for Edgar Allan Poe. The master of gothic horror has been celebrated at events in several cities to mark the bicentennial of his birth.

And on Sunday in Baltimore, he'll get the funeral he never had.

Fewer than 10 people attended Poe's funeral when he died ...

I made a small batch last night, I would classify as a disaster, but they are edible. They are very light and airy, but I need to tweak the recipe. I put them on a silicon sheet as required (by the recipe) in spoon size blobs but in 10 minutes it was one big, happy mass of stuff. I had to spoon the edges back as they cooled to get individual cookies. I'll reduce butter and sugar(they have a Praline flavor) and add more oats next round and hopefully add the recipe here. Quite simple and fast ...

When all else fails, hit the kitchen. Is that a motto? I am trying a new pastry recipe today for a tart. It is extremely time consuming - start to finish - that only the French can come up with such a procedure. And I bought some local Winesap apples the other day, something else I have never eaten or cooked, so it will be interesting what gets cobbled together. I will report the outcome, either way.

MAN HURT BY TIGER AFTER SNEAKING INTO ZOO

i love this zoo, and the tigers here are amazing. I hope there will be nothing done to the tiger as a result of this.

the guys sneaked into the zoo at 1am. they climbed over a fence to get close to the tigers. they should have been left there and called breakfast, because obviously these are incredibly stupid people.

the funny thing... i wrote a mystery novel that took place in that same tiger pen.

i will dig out the links later on... but there have been many tests done up here, the results now released, that indicate that those people under the age of 55 who get the seasonal flu (regular flu) vaccine are at a clearly increased risk of getting H1N1. For those at high risk of seasonal flu (those over 55 and in care facilities) it is now recommended that they get the seasonal flu vaccine. The rest of us should get H1N1 and then the rest of the population at higher risk of seasonal flu (those ...
