I'm still around, but using the laptop to find forums to try and help the problem. It is a: STOP: c000021a [fatal system error], and seems to be common enough, but no techies here and no desire to spend the usual 5-6 hours on the phone with windows help so looking for another way. It is slow but the frustration level is lower.

When I log onto yahoo to get to my email sometimes a page will come up that says yahoo is redoing their recovery for lost or forgotten passwords and asks various questions. If I back click the page goes away and I can proceed as usual. Does this sound legit or is it some scam? Thanks for helping.

I was doing a cut/paste from Wordperfect and when it transferred, something completely different popped up, a note kind of message(email?), signed by someone I don't know. I have no idea where it could have come from. It was a lovely, poetic note, signed Lisa -- would that ring a bell with anyone here?

I am on the laptop now, but I was trying to sign in on the desktop and suddenly got all these security/worm warnings on the screen about Trojan-Downloader, etc. attempting to enter files, detected by Windows Online Security. It is wanting to remove them but wants to install something from - antivirusprivatescanv1(dot)com

I had to shut everything down earlier today when I couldn't get operations to respond, and rebooted.

Of course it all looks official with the Windows logo shield, ...

I thought I could finish my years and not have to do that stuff, but now will have to get my 14 year old friend down the street to learn me something now and then.
