Today I learned that when a bug dies in a head of lettuce, he stays there until I make a salad. Then he gets a watery grave...

A 1/4 cup of cold tea left in the cup is enough incentive for the younger cat to stick her paw in and see if it's something she would enjoy.

what the heck is it with cats and cups of tea?? Mine just stuck her head into the cup.

I learned that when the snow starts to melt and gets really wet and sticky, it is actually possible for a wiener dog to get high-centered and spin his wheels.

...that when you leave two teenage boys home alone for two weeks to fend for and feed themselves, they really really REALLY appreciate whatever you put in front of them to eat.

KIDS!!! My father said the same about me when I was about eight. If I would just work half as much at home as for somebody else for nothing.

When your daughter is rushing out the door at eight at night and says, "Oh Dad, I just noticed all the washing is still on the line and the weather might pack up tonight"... listen! Women have an instinct about these things!

I learned that what I thought of as my Bear Boy keeping all the other wildlife away was actually him doing his job. Now we are up to eight feral cats stinking up the joint outside and the whole inside front forch as they have dug under, one raccoon living in the shed, a baby deer whose lost its mother, and a red fox that hopefully likes cats.

Today I learned why I didn't have a single literary oriented thought in my head or the desire to do anything yesterday. Because I didn't want to proceed with the prospect of failure or starting something of such uncertainty but with a little needed encouragement I learned I could get a few pages done.

I learned that when I see pride on my daughter's face for an accomplishment, I feel beyond thrilled.
