I took the tip of my finger off with a carpet knife when the grubs and i were alone at the cabin several years ago. I had no vehicle there. the tip sorta flew across the room. Grub 1 screamed that the dog was eating it. Grub 2 got real pale and ran downstairs to make tea (damn british genes). I stuck the tip back on, taped it together and bandaged it. now it looks like i have a little Jelly ToT candy stuck on there.
Wow! How did you keep from passing out? I would have been on the floor in a puddle of blood. (Unless the dog was willing to lick that up too.)

Re: What I Learned Today......
i was the only one there with two kids. its amazing what you can do when you have to be the mom.
it wasn't a huge hunk, mostly down the outside of the finger from the tip down to the nail... enough to hurt like heck though. by the time i got back to town a few days later it had already started to attach, so they left it alone.

Yep, I was going to say, if you can tape parts back on or close deep cuts together with band aids or tape for a few days, it will usually grow back good as new. Even pink duct tape works - parts don't care.
My older brother cut the tip of his finger off when in high school. He worked in the neighborhood market, meat dept. Learned to be more careful with meat slicers - the dummy.

Yeah... I was able to test my strength today. I just kept breathing heavy and telling myself not to look at the finger too much until I could get a band aid on it. What is weird... The firetruck and ambulance showed up in front of my house. I thought... "Now, how did they know?" But then they went across the street and brought our neighbor's teen daughter out on a stretcher. They were all wearing masks, so maybe she had severe swine flu or something. Even weirder... the father stayed home. Um..

That a two hour nap is not only indispensible, it is unavoidable any more. I use to remember when it was fifteen minutes.

Crap, dear Kerr, is in the eye of the beholder...
what you really learned today: Writers ALWAYS underestimate their own ability, and when you call your own stuff crap, AmandaLyn gets annoyed and prepares to kick yer butt.

Re: What I Learned Today......
that no matter how cute, some dogs are just nuts. Oh, did I mention before that we have another dog? Teeny. About eight pounds. Her name is Baby, but I'm thinking about changing it to Shithead. She's had four baths in the last two days, three of them today!!!
