*wipes forehead* Thanks, Amanda. I just sealed my poems and stamped the envelope.

Thanks, JaM. First poetry contest I'm entering. If anything else, I'm going to keep in mind that it's all a learning experience. *crosses fingers* Very Happy

Well it looks like I didn't win this contest. It was my first, but I was hoping something.

Twelfth Annual Poetry Contest Winners

2009 Poetry Contest Winner!
Congratulations to John Galleher, whose “Guidebook” series delighted contest judge Rae Armantrout. She writes, “With their cast of recurring characters, [these poems] are as bitter and skeptical—and funny!—as (old) Bob Dylan songs.” Galleher’s poems will appear in our November/December issue.

I think 'not winning' can possibly be a positive sometimes, it makes one focus harder on their own work, and I speak from personal experience of non-literary entries. Always bear in mind also that jurors can have even a subconscience bent toward subjects, styles, etc. (I received a rejection for a juried art piece two weeks ago and the only thing I regret was the friggin high entry fee)
