took my cat to the vet yesterday. she's been losing fur since the move and has a couple of bald spots. thought it was fleas or the mange. turns out she is depressed and is now on anti-depressants. swear to god! anyone else ever hear of this?--s6

That's a new one on me. Never heard of a depressed cat. I could imagine if she was used to constant companionship and suddenly in a new place alone to react someway, but depressed!! Best I can do is send you another one who has never had a depressed day in his life.

Cats are the worst for being habitual. And they're easily disgruntled because of it. But they do adapt shortly. It's just their way of letting you know you've upset their lives. So be it, as long as they don't start going in corners, etc.

okay, true story

I lived with the other half for four years before we got married. When I moved in, I had Pajamas with me (my cat). Up to that point, every guy i had dated, Pajamas hated. This one he fell totally in love with, would jump on his shoulders, billy goat butt his head into the other half's chin, give him love nibbles on the nose, and rise around draped over his shoulders like the cat was a fur stole, and always the Jammies would be drooling and kneading and totally in love with him, and i was totally yesterday's news.

when we started to plan the wedding, Jammies fur started to fall out. He wasn't sleeping, he wasn't eating... he was a wreck. He would yowl all the time, especially when the other half wasn't around. I took him to the vet (the cat) but it was literally the day before the wedding and all my cheques had my new name on them, so i couldn't pay for the meds or the visit. I stopped at the other half's business, told him to go and pay the vet, which he refused to do without knowing what was wrong, and i was really hesitant to say. Finally I just blurted it out. "The cat needs meds because he is depressed about the wedding. its too stressful for him." It became the theme for the wedding.

yes, sadly, i have heard of it. On the good side, he was on the meds a short time and then pulled his head out of his butt and was fine.

you know, i think the meds are helping. except for the nightly pill battle (i look like the album cover for cat scratch fever) she is much calmer. she spends most of her time in my bedroom, sleeping on my stuff. did jammie's fur ever come back?--s6
