Who is your favorite Pooh Character?
Winnie the Pooh... 80 years later
AUTHORIZED SEQUEL SOON TO BE RELEASED
AA Milne struck gold with Winnie the Pooh 80 years ago. The inspiration for the main character was a bear cub from the Winnipeg Zoo, and there is a wonderful statue in the zoo there dedicated to the man and the cub.
Now, an authorized sequel is heading to presses... today. It should be available in time for Christmas. I have listened to the opening of it being read by the author, David Benedictus, and if that was a true sample of what is to come, he nailed the voice of the work. I have a first run copy of The House on Pooh Corner. I have ordered a first run copy of Return to the Hundred Acre Wood. You are never too old for Winnie the Pooh...

The most wonderful thing about Tiggers
is that Tiggers are wonderful things
Their ears are made out of rubber
their tails are made out of springs
They're bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy
fun fun fun fun fun!
the most wonderful thing about Tiggers is
I'm the only one, I'm the only One!
Whooo hooooo!
I adore Tigger, in case you can't tell, and have ever since the waywayway past.
I don't care what they say about an 80 year freindship between a Pooh with no pants and a Piglet who only wears pink! As a single mom, Kanga copes very well with Roo, Eyore handles his depression without valium or alcohol, Owl tries to keep an eye on things he doesn't have the faintest clue about, and Rabbitt's best recourse to his ADHD is gardening.
Still not sure about the Heffalumps but I do love their tails!

LOL. I am torn between Tigger and Eyeore... I love them both.
For a very simple story, set in a very simple place, Milne really did create magic with his characters. Benedictus did a remarkable job taking the story just a little bit further... for the most part, the transition is seamless.
